DOLCE & GABBANA

Inspiration
An imaginary journey to rediscover ancient Sicily, where history and
myth come together. The Greek temples and theatres, symbols of classic architectural
perfection, are reinterpreted as if in a dream. As if a traveler, having visited some of the marvellous landscapes of ancient Sicily, wanted to recreate those unique settings in his mind:
that type of beauty, magic and enchantment can only be found in such a vision.
Only in an imaginary world can the unexpected and irrational intertwine
with spontaneity and naturalness, while creativity, freed of any bonds with logic, becomes a
synonym for folly. Like in “Satyricon” by Fellini, the ancient temples and theatres are
transposed into surreal visions that continue to nourish the eyes and soul of the traveler and
provide images for dreams. The unforeseen is interlaced with spontaneity, creativity
with the absurd, and dreams with reality.

Black, red, cream, dark green and gold.

Fabrics
Macramé, organza lace, brocade and perforated brocade, lacquered silk, chiffon,

Prints
Lithography of ancient Sicilian temples. Prints of ancient coins that were used in the various cities of the island. Traditional decorations of Sicilian ceramics and maioliche (Sicilian traditional glazed pottery).
Almond tree flowers are printed, hand-painted or applied on the fabric to obtain a three
dimensional effect. Polka-dots.

iconic Sicily and Dolce Bags, created in various materials and leathers.

DOLCE & GABBANA

Models progressed down the catwalk in Milan for Dolce and Gabbana's Fall Winter 2013 collection dressed in tweeds, delicate lace and cashmere knits designed to look like tweed. Models made up to look like "Sophia Loren" wore; three piece suits; flared jackets and coats worn over tunic tops and midi skirts. Mosaic-effect prints on wool organza or enamelled onto sunglasses were inspired by Monreale Cathedral, right outside Palermo. More Catholic church inspired touches included; elaborate gold sunglasses, crowns and jewels.

Interview with Founder of Miss Moncur

MONICA ROUSE

How did Miss Moncur come about?

After living in London, which is the largest market for e-tailers, I saw an opportunity to create an online fashion destination that coupled both an inspirational high spec environment together with affordable prices. Somewhere I know both my friends and myself would want to visit.

What do you like most about your job?

Being able to combine my favourite things, being creative, meeting inspiring people and to be able to travel with my work.

What are your favourite trends this season?

I love the trend of the colour Blue at the moment as it translates to both summer and winter seasons, and suits any complexion. At the moment I am wearing the Miss Moncur Mosaic Print Biker Jacket, made in a beautiful blue and aqua print.

Who is your favoured Hollywood icon?

Diane Kruger, for her unique style and grace.

Your favourite song at the moment?

I can never remember the names of songs I like! However I am always listening to music on the spotify and jango apps, I can always find a playlist there I like for what ever mood I might be in that day.

The most iconic fashion piece in your wardrobe would be?

For Spring, it is the Miss Moncur Ziggy White Blazer, incredible tailoring combined with delicate lace. A definite hero piece in my wardrobe.

Favourite holiday destination?

I have too many favourites to choose. However I spent the summer in Capri for the first time this year and fell in love with the island, I will definitely be planning another trip there soon!

What you can't live without?

My Family and Friends.
